I know this sounds bad and in theory it could be a waste of time. But quite honestly it's the best way we as consumers have to see what kind of a vendor we're dealing with. I just walked in to the shop, if I don't know you as a person or as a businessman I will put you to the test and see what advice you'll give me, I can make my own determinations from there.

It's honestly not a waste of time, I only really do it once if it's a new shop that's opened up and if I like what I see you'll have a customer for life so in the end the shop wins.

^I personally just keep my ears open and hear if the employees tend to give bad advice. You can tell if they are just in it to sell their items or genuinely help the customer while making a sale.

Once I know what type of advice they give just people walking around then I decide to ask them a question I may have but did the research already.
