best bang for the buck, the lower model such as the T247 (which I have) has built in timers (one set of on and off per channel/day) and manual control of intensity from 0 to 100% for 2 channels (blue and full spectrum). The higher models have fully controllable control of timer and intensity (I believe you can set it to turn on at X% intensity for whatever amount of time, then move to y% intensity for whatever amount of time, etc).

You won't find anything under 300 with Dusk/Dawn automation. If you want to spend less skip that as contrary to popular belief it's not needed.

We've been reefing for years on good old timers, for about 185 you can get a 24" 300w LED fixture with 38" of coverage for SPS or 48" of coverage for LPS & Zoas, or both just keep SPS toward the middle.

That's twice the coverage of an Ocean Revive and 20 bucks cheaper without the timer though, you can get timers at home depot for practically nothing (get 2 timers one for whites and one for blues) and you'll get the exact same features of a T247.

Are these controllable through a controller like an apex?

Not sure how big your tank is but i have,
"Current USA Orbit Marine LED Saltwater Reef Lighting System"
I use them on my small tank they are great and inexpensive. You can find on Drs Foster and Smith to get an idea. Then shop around I got mine from Petco with a 20% off sale.

No if you want Apex controllable the cheapest you'll find is about 200 I believe it's 140 or so for the light and another 59 to have the controller mod done for you (they'll do it before shipping). That's just a 16" fixture coverage is about 24" width x 24" depth.

Here is a link:
http://reefradiance.com/dm-165e.html

Actually the LED sale is over it's 179.00 for light + 59.00 for mod if they do it, or 69.00 if you want to DIY. Make sure you add the controller mod to your cart so they know to install it, saves 10 bucks and headaches later. These are true 3w LED fixtures stay away from cheaper 1w fixtures out there especially if you grow SPS.
