Hi,
We are redoing our downstairs floors and putting in radiant heating. I am also in the process of upgrading my current 75 gallon to a 125 gallon. However, I am concerned about the tank being on a radiant heat floor. Since nothing has been done yet, it is possible to leave the place where my new tank will be going radiant free.. I was wondering if that is necessary. The tank will be on a stand, so much higher off the floor, but the sump/ fuge will be closer to the floor.
Thanks for any info!

Sure, you can leave it out around that area. It's just a grid of piping so the installer should be able to accommodate some offsets and couple extra elbows. Keep in mind that the heating system is a grid though, it is not a continuous plane of heat source. So, even if the radiant heating is not run directly under the tank, the floor that the tank sits on will still receive some heat. You could also consider adding insulation directly under the floor where the tank sits to serve as a barrier from the radiant heating . The square footage of the stand isn't that big so it'll be minimal material cost.

Honestly dont think it would hurt anything, those floors arent going to be warmer then what the tank temp is and shouldnt effect anyways unless your sump is sitting on the floor

You can leave it out but I would not. The highest temp on the floor surface if the radiant is done properly is 85 degrees and you almost never rate a system at that surface temp more from 80-83. If you use an outdoor reset control then you would most of the time be much lower. I have hade a tank over a radiant floor for years I no longer do but it had no effect. Same thing I argue with kitchen cabinet companies all the time no need to leave the radiant out from under the cabinets.

Radiant heat doesnt got through out the whole floor wall to wall. All it is is a wire mesh designed to go in the middle of the the room for a certain distance and slightly warm up your floor. Depending on the kit you can install a thermostat and control when it comes.
