Hey i just got a clam and i re aquascaped my whole tank so that i can keep it on top close to the lights.....i also have my frogspawn on top and my marroone hosting it....my clown keeps biting the shell and then smacking it off the rocks...he did it three times and i kept putting it back up there cause that's where i want it....i put a rock between the two now but if i keep putting it on top will it keep knocking it over or will the clown get used to it........

by rescaping you have made new territories. seems like the clown doesn't want the clam so close to its home. which is odd. it's not like the clam is a fish. if the clam keeps getting knocked over it will stress and die. try to find a more suitable location or move the froggie if possible.

Maroons will sometimes re-arrange the tank (rock-work, corals, sand, etc.) to the way the want it.
My previous one never gave up.

give it a day or two. the clam will attach itself to the rock. when this happens you PITA clown :splitspin wont be able to move it.

The clam is not going to be happy if he's still getting mushed.
Especially is he's biting the shell.

IME with my yellow tail damsel is that he stops after about a week. You need to keep and eye on the clam. if it is not opening because of the clown then you need to do some chages. IMO the clown will get use to having the clam there or the clam will get use to the fish pushing on his shell. just make sure that in no case the fish nipping at the mantle. This would be bad. There is a tread out there were a clown is hosting a clam... so if that can happen... you clam will be fine, just keep a close eye on it. Just my $.02... good luck.

well i called home and the clam was still on top...what i'll do is for a couple of days move the froggie to a different location and then move it back to where it was once i feel the clam has glued his foot to the rock......

Maroons are big time tank bullys. When it came time for a new pair of clowns, I passed on them, although I think that they are the nicest looking. The female, spent way to much time rearranging things to her liking. There was nothing that I found that could stop it.
