Killing Aiptasia

Just want to share my experience with killing Aiptasia. I'm not sure if anyone has tried it in the past or posted this method.

I recently noticed 4 Aiptasia in my tank after not seeing any for years. What first came to mind was kalkwasser paste. While thinking about it I thought that it may work better if mixed with an antiseptic. So, I mixed up some kalkwasser paste by using hydrogen peroxide as the liquid portion. IME it seemed to destroy them a lot faster than kalkwasser alone.

Dan I have used it and it does work well, but for those hard to reach places my file takes care of them.

I've had my tank covered with aiptasia. For every one you see there are four that you do not. Peppermint shrimp and file fish. If the rocks are on the top, remove and boil. It worked for me!

If you remove a piece of rock from your tank and boil it, won't that cause problems when you place it back in the tank?

Here is the BEST in Killing Aiptasia there call Berghia Nudibranchs
I use them they such a good job you will be amazed! I thought it was
bull I try it. It work for me there are bit on the high side but they WORK.
You can call them if you need help they are real good people.

Peppermints worked well for me but I have BTAs in the tank and don't want them bothered.

I agree both of them will work. BUT either way you go going spend money because
Peppermints & Berghia you need about 5 is ok but to see dent in 10 or more depending on tank
size.

Nudis and shrimps work well also but not for me because I have too many larges wrasses.... They're on the menu

I keep getting a few around. What a pita and they just keep popping up every once in a while.. Sure there's some I can't see but the ones I could get to I kill them and they never come back.. Just watch it doesn't get onto anything else.. Good luck and if anyone had better way I'm all ears

Bristle tail file fish. I had a bunch of aiptasia in my 90 gal. and he ate every single one of them. You will never see him eat one but slowly they will start disappearing. Just fyi I also started noticing empty snail shells and I caught him killing one of my nassarius so he is in the fuge at the moment.

CBB always works for me. if you have a yellow tang, then it wont work. sooner or later it will kill the CBB so i won't ever put a yellow tang into my tank
