how too deal with red slime, it keep coming back try almost everything from lights out to water change, red slime removal to physical removing :help:

Try Special Blend. It's only a temporary fix. You need to find out what's causing it. (RO/DI filters going bad?, not enough flow?, Old bulbs?) Could be many different things.

red slime remover. one dose and its all gone. worked for me many years back when I had an outbreak. I was amazed how quickly it worked.

Chemi clean, red slime remover worked for me and never came back

Chemi Clean worked very well for me but you have to follow the directions to the letter. Follow the proper dosing procedure, run additional aeration (skimmer/air stones), remove any carbon, and perform a water change once complete.


To keep it from returning, keep an eye on your nutrient levels and also crank up your flow to minimize dead spots.

Chemi Clean for the win!

USE AIR STONES, as it kill oxygen and the fish could end up belly up. I used 3 in my 29. Turn off the skimmer too

All but one! Dose your tank with Absolute Vodka! It will balance your ph levels and kill nitrates and nitrites. Red slime will be gone in less than a week. I don't remember the exact ml measurements. I haven't used this method or needed it since last year but it's 1,2 or 5 ml per 10 gallons. I'm sure someone on here will have a specific measurement for you.

this could work just make sure u have a good skimmer
