Is there a better way to do a water change than buying gallons of Distilled Water?

Hi I'm fairly new to the hobby and to change my water I buy gallons of distilled water. Is there a better way to do this?

Buy an RO/DI unit so you don't have to carry all that water back everytime. You'll also likely save money in the long term

Just don't forget a float valve and an auto shut off valve to avoid the time when you forget that you're making water

I did this without an ro unit. Used to use tap and would filll buckets in the shower. One time I started filling at night, forgot I was filling and went to bed. Unlucky for me I had put the bucket right over the drain so it overflowed. Lucky for me I woke up at 3am in a panic as I remembered I was filling water, ran downstairs to about 100 gallons on the floor

Other than blocking the drain hole like reefiness, do you think I need a float value if I'll filling in the bathtub with the drain wide open. I only plan to make around 10g at a time while I'm home.

I would just use a couple new buckets or a totes container. The tub has all types of soaps and hair I wouldn't want in my tank. On another note there is only two kinds of people in this world, the ones that pee in the shower and the liars

Sorry. What I meant is that I will be filling my water containers in the tub. Therefore, any overflow does not flood my place, just empties into the tub and down the drain.

LOL, ive told myself this MANY times. and ive had to combat mold because of how frequently i get busy with everything else and forget about the water

IME, spend the money on the ones with 10" clear canisters. The portable 50 GPD are junk or at least the one I got. I've even changed out the connectors. Anyway, I got one on ebay was $120 for a 6 stage 150GPD I think from Titan Pro. I got oversized because I don't want to wait and forget! I've flooded my laundry room a few times.

Nope, you're good. I still don't use a float with my RO. I like to love life dangerously
