I just got a new job and cannot access Manhattan Reefs. My company is blocking all message boards and clubs, but i am able to goto Reef Central and Nano-Reefs.

Anyone have any advice, is there a way around it? I am deprived at work :)

run terminal service or vnc from your home computer and connect to it remotely when at your office. then browse the site via your home computer

i dont think the usual pc user is too knowledgable of using vnc and terminal services. this requires a pc/server running at home with a live connection n configured with a designated open port via router.

If they are blocking access to certain types of sites chances are that it is being done at the proxy server (firewall) level and suspect web usage is being logged.

Is visiting MR during the day really worth potentially losing your job? If your boss is cool it may just get you a warning, but some companies have a zero tolerance for people that purposefully bypass internet usage policies.

I agree with this. I have personally seen multiple individuals lose their jobs for getting around security protocols. Unless you know for sure your company (not just your boss) won't have an issue, I would say pass.

You should be able to visit MR at work. The reason you can't is because your company is using a web-blocking list of a company that we are not registered with. If you find out the name of the "proxy server or content blocking list provider" we can submit MR to the provider and have them approve the site. It usually only takes a day or two. Send me a PM with the information above (ask your IT guy) and I will handle the application.

Part of my contract is freedom to do wha i like and when I like as long as **** gets done. Thats includes surfing as long as its not porn or other offensive material. Besides any boss tha I ever had knows I give them 500% when they give me freedom.
