Best Manhattan Reef Stores

Greetings,

I'm a die-hard, Boston Reefer who will spending the next several days in the city. What are some good stores to check out while my wife and daughters go holiday shopping.

in manhattan try new world aquarium. its in the 30's. check out the review section for accurate info

fishtown in queens (northern blvd). rating from 1 to 10 i give it a 7. prices are ok, although they have been rising recently. on a good day you will find a good selection of fish. i believe the best days are mondays. as for corals they don't have much at all.

there's also new world aquariumin manhattan(38th + 2nd ave). rating from 1 to 10 is an 8/9. a bit pricey. on a good day you will find tons of fish(large,small,reef safe,non-reef safe), smaller invert tanks, several tanks of corals. but like i said before pricey.

Country Critters (far out on LI but, very expensive, but good selection if you are just looking)

If you mean Manhattan literally, New World is the only shop period. If you want to/ can venture into NJ/Conn. or out to LI. there are many more options. If you really just want to window shop yourself and not buy things, you are probably better off seeing if some of our kind members are open to you visiting their personal systems... there are some really nice ones.

I'll start-- if you are around tom. you are more than welcome to come visit the 3 reef systems here in my office on th campus of Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. I am not available on weekends.
