Upgraded to 175 watt DE halide from 70 watt halide about a month ago. Got some off brand bulbs from Ebay for like $5.00 with $8.00 shipping from Hong Kong. I've got them just to see if I'd like 20,000K or 15,000K better before laying down money for a name brand bulb. But I'd liked the bulbs and my corals seems to like it. I've noticed that the bulb has the words "UV Block" printed on the bulb. I've though the DE bulb needs a UV glass for the coral's protection. Is this something new? Has anybody heard of this?

You cannot buy a bulb from one company to see if you like it and then go to a name brand and expect the same result. Every bulb is different, including bulbs from the same manufacturer ran on different ballasts.
If these work for you, great. But you can't gauge other bulbs on them.
