Just curious, are you planning to use it to store food for human consumption, or just planning to use it for handling maintenance on your tank?

I think it's a great question.
I must admit, I have 2 of those IO buckets and 2 Home Depot buckets, but never bothered to even think whether or not the IO buckets were food grade.

Salt Buckets

Hello MR, thanks for all the input, especially themeat. The reason I asked this question is because we all assume they are food grade. And you know what they say about assuming!!! Lol, my question arose from an issue I'm having - RODI product water comes out 0-TDS then goes into three RC salt buckets and sit there for a week or two until I need to fill my ATO container. Before pouring the water out into the ATO container the other day I used a hand held TDS meter I received as a gift and got a reading of 12-ppm. These three salt buckets are only used for clean RODI water, not for making salt water. So why the TDS creep? That got me thinking maybe the buckets aren't food grade and are leaching phosphates.

I have now replaced all the filters, including the membrane w/ Spectra Pure's 99% rejection membrane and purchased a Brute garbage can (gray) to store my RODI topoff water. I'll continue to use the salt buckets for water changes being that it's been confirmed that they in fact are food grade.
