For the volume of water you're going to soon be looking at I wouldn't go with either of these skimmers. For that amount of water look for an in sump skimmer. Maybe a Euroreef or ASM. More high end go with a H&S or something of that nature.

Or go with the Remora in sump and pay your rent...
Kris doesn't understand the rent thingy just yet! :wink1:

Of course I do, people have to pay their bills. But why recommend something that he is less likely to be content with in the long run? Why not make it a one time purchase, get it right and be set?

Personally, I've done more than my share of buying the inferior product just to want the better. Yes it cost's more money now but it'll be with you for the long run.

If he's going to have say 70-80 gallons of water in that system, I think the remora might be a little underpowered.

Say he goes with this it states 75g+, which would probably be pushing it.

Why not go with something like for a little more or a little less if you dont mind extruded acrylic...

Again it was JMO, no need to talk about my ability to understand rent. I'm 19, not stupid;).

I fully agree with kris. Ive wasted enough money to buy a decent car, before I got sick of the mediocre crap and spent cash on the "real" deal. Dont skimp now cause youll just end up paying more later. The whole rating thing is overrated. A load of BS. Id sooner get an H&S rated for the same and a Aqua-C but the H&S will kick the Aqua-C ass from here to hell and back and then some. Yeah it costs more but it will save you so much trouble in the long run.

I used the CSS 65 on my 16g nano for about 10 months. Disappointing is the best description I can use. I did every mod in the book on it. Nothing made it skim any better.

I've never used the Remora so I won't comment on that. I will say that investing in a quality skimmer right from the get go is highly advisable. It will save you money in the long run (not to mention aggrevation).
