I would like some feed back on the ASM G series skimmers. My friend has a 80gal wave front tank and is debating on whether to go with the
ASM G3 or The ASM G4. please comment on that as well

I've used the G3 and I liked it. Was probably the biggest skimmer I've owned. It was on a 65g + 20g sump system. So I guess it did more than fine for the amount of water I had in there. My fish bioload was on the low side though, I only had 5 or 6 fish and they were all on the smaller side.

The g3 should be fine, but if money and space allows you could go with the g4.

I notice though that they raised the prices on the ASM's, the g3's like $310 now and when i bought it, it was like $230 ish. You friend might want to look into another brand skimmer for that money. Could probably get something more well built, becasue mine used to leak around the joints. Just a though though.

There are 3 versions of the G4 :headache: 2 of which use the Sedra 9000. I recommend the biggest version that fits his available space.

so you mean the G4-X. would that pump give him some water heating issue's.. I am having Paul build me a custom made reef sump for it

If you're going with the g4, get it with the 9000. More power :lol_large

Once again, there are 2 G4s that come with a Sedra 9000. The G4-X is 30" tall, while the G4 Plus is only 24". Makes it more of a stand height issue.

If he decides on the G4, definitely get the Sedra 9000 pump with it.

height is not an issue as long as the GX-4 is in sump it's good
