Does anybody have any idea whether this stool is safe to use as a stand in the sump?

That's the thing. I don't have much real estate in the stand and need room in the sump for a new skimmer. It would be great if I were able to elevate a couple of reactors. Their combined weight might be too much for eggcrate.

pvc pipes do not float. that's absurd.
not sure about all sizes and dif schedules, but tried 4" schedule 40 in my qt and it floats, while the 4" fittings do not. Guess it depends on how dense it is. You'r surprising me there. Would think these two things, dense and absurd, would be something you know about, lol

I put it in and it works fine, very sturdy, definitely prefer it to eggcrate. I was able to fit my calcium and biopellet reactors on it after taking about 1.5" off the legs. The only problem is that it is more bulky than I'd like. I think I might look into the skimmer stand that bonomo53 suggested.

I'm not sure where you learned your aquarium theory & practice from, but you obviously are outclassed here. If this gentleman wants to build a stand for his skimmer, some egg crate and four PVC legs, and some zip ties, will work perfectly. If your only experience in aquariums is a 29 gallon bio-cube and a 2 gallon nano-reef, and you once kept a lion fish in a ten gallon tank which you cycled with mollies, you might want to re-consider being a fly-by-night aquarium service technician.
