does anyone else have this problem that the phosban doesnt stay down inside the tlf reactor after about 2 weeks? the whole thing just rises with the sponge all the way up. i limit the flow just so the top 1/2" bubbles.

I like my media to "shimmy" a little bit but nothing that I would call a "tumble." Mine looks the way that I imagine it would during an earthquake, if that helps.

that didn't help much. we need to know what category earthquake you are talking about. something like a 4 or a 7?? :biglaugh:

i guess i'll up the flow on my reactor so the phosban "shimmys" a bit

Your lower sponge is probably full of detritus. :dead1:

Deanos might be right, if the bottom sponge is filthy what happens is that the air that geats sucked in can't escape and builds up. With time it will eventually become forceful enough to push it up.

I keep my media so that the top 1/4" just tumbles. Make sure the particles do not flow upwards.

mine just vibrates a bit on top, no particles are free flowing and in some areas i get the lava flow going up. that last for a couple of weeks. last time i put 150gr of phosban to try to get the phos and hair algae under control.
that makes sense with the detritus and the sponge. need to put a new one in.
thanks.
