Hello, everyone.
I put the red and black cucumber into my 90gal reef tank 3 month ago.
Since he was put into the tank, he has never come down to sand bed. Why?
What the hell does he eat on LR?

I have a brown onw with white barbs and he ha done the same thing??? I thought he would eat junk in the sand and keep it stired up. So far he found a nice hole in the rock and hasen't moved in a month. Reminds me of my dad when i lived with my folks...Anyone have any clues???

The cukes you have are most likely filter feeders. I have had a tiger tale cuke now for about 3 months and he has never left the sand.

I had the same experience with a yellow cuke that was defintely NOT a filter feeder. It stayed on the glass for a week after I bought it until I knocked it down on the gravel, after which it climbed up on the LR and never left. The thing eventually shrunk and died in less than two months. I got a replacement from a friend who didn't want it anymore, and it's doing just fine leaving its little gravel piles all over the place!

We got a black cuke from Tampa Bay Saltwater. It sat on the rock for no less than two months and diddn't move an inch. Then it slowly started to move a little bit at a time. Now he cruises all over the place. He rarely leaves the rock (well, he's on the sand right now), but chows down a lot of sand while sitting on the rock. Then poops it right out. Guess that's what they're good for...

Anyway, give them some time.

I've had the same experience with the pink cucumber in my tank. He spent the best part of the first couple of months on the rocks, only venturing down to the sand on the odd occasion. Lately he's been dividing his time almost equally between the rocks and sand, but is not very active, almost never moving throughout the daylight hours but usually in a different position each morning so he obviously gets around at night.

He's been in the tank around 8 months so far
