I have just placed 18 g of salt mixed H2O w/rock that was in my 20 plus a new bag of that live sand that is sold in pet stores also 6 8 oz. cups of my old live sand into the 40 br.salinity is the same as the 20 I had to buff the ph a lil. My question is the 20 probably has about 15 gal of h2o ww/out the rock. wich means another 7 gal has to be mixed + skimmer re fill. cosidering the amount of new h2o to old how long should i wait before putting back the live stock. ie mushrooms daisy polyps and colt few fish. P.S. lil cloudy wich I assume a result of the new H2O

1. personally, I don't think adding used water will do anything significant for you. Most of your biological filtration occurs in the sandbed and rock.

2. I would expect the tank to cycle. It may not be much of a cycle, but I would still expect it to happen as the new tank adjusts to it's bioload.

3. Move critters when NH3 and NO2 are zero.
