I have heard talk of a product that allows you to mix kalk powder directly to one gallon of ro water and add directly to your tank for water top off. 1 tsp per 1 gallon of top off water shake and pour slowly into tank. Has any one else heard of this product. If so, what is it, think I heard it was made by Kent, not sure. Also is anyone adding kalk powder into ro water and pouring into tank directley. If so I would imagine it would have to be a very small amount of kalk powder. I know and understand the reccommended dosing procedure for kalk, but courious if anyone has experimented with other ways.

Sounds like you're describing Araga-MIGHT which is powdered calcium carbonate. Kalk (i.e. kalkwasser or pickling lime) is calcium hydroxide. The two are very different products. I've tried both and have verified w/ my test kits that after the Araga-MIGHT product has settled for an hour there is no appreciable calcium nor much alkalinity in solution. If I remember right, the Araga-MIGHT product yielded 0 ppm Ca and 1-2 dKH at best. Kalkwasser, OTOH yields about 850 ppm Ca and about 40 dKH or so after allowing to settle.

FWIW, I can't even see how Araga-MIGHT works considering how insoluble CaCO3 is in pure water let alone a saltwater solution.

I *think* I remember reading somewhere that Kent had come out with a similar product that compared to Araga-MIGHT.

hi.
There are as many people who brought the dust (or the milky "solution") as whose who knows that these junks don't work as described.

It is unfortunate that some of us thought that we found a "short cut," and need to make a U-turn later and wasted both time and money...
