I have a 55G standard with mostly soft corals and want to keep SPS and clams. I am planning on upgrading to a 180G tank towards the end of the year. I am planning on making a hanging hood w/ 2 400W 6500K lamps and some supplimental Actinics to make it look bluer. How many and what kind of actinics? I am partial to PC lighting for the actinics, but am looking for advice.
In December, I will buy the 180G tank (6'x2'x2') and will probably add a third 400W lamp and some additional Actinics.
I plan on having at least two fans in the hood, and the hood will be hung from the ceiling w/ the tank coverless.
Questions:

<LI>Do I need an acrylic cover?
<LI>How many fans do I need?
<LI>The hood will be made out of wood: Do I need to put stand-offs between the reflectors and the wood?
