Sanjay has a good page on testing different ballasts with different bulbs.. the blueline looks good for some, but it doesn't impress me too much on the german (ushio) 10k in the 175w.. here is the link.

I've found that they interfered with my pinpoint pH monitor - I had to move them far apart in my last tank.

Note that I'm not necessarily endorsing these ballasts - I just wanted to provide some physical details about them, for anybody contemplating designing them into their systems (since they normally can only be provided by mail order, you can't check them out in person before buying...)

Yes. They emit both RFI and MRI and are not FCC type accepted.
