Best way to be sure and not get stuck with the stuff at the airport would be to call your airplane company and ask them. Counting on them not to check your handbag these days would be a little like playing *roulette russe*..
Have a nice trip

We bought a little tiny (1/2") potters angel in Chicago and brought it on the plane to Cali. The ladies at the metal detectors kinda freaked, they said that American had just told someone that morning that they could not bring a goldfish on the plane.

They were cool though, and just told us to get a bag from the gift shop and not tell anyone. We made it but I was nervous for a bit there...

I brought some urchins and crabs with me from Hawaii to Chicago in my carry on baggage. However, you need to check with the airlines and see if they are allowing carry on baggage still, and also, call the Department of Agriculture and make sure that you can actually have sea hares and transport them, and also call California's DOA and see if you can bring them in. CA and FL are both very strict on what you can and cannot bring into their states, as are the Hawaiian Islands. Don't get caught bringing something you shouldn't be bringing, especially right now when they are checking carefully. You could face a large fine if they think that you aren't allowed to bring them. However, like I said, a simple phone call to your DOA should answer your question.

Humu,

Don't know about them, 'specially with the new security. However, if you do get them here, and you are nearish to Oakland/SF, I would probobly be interested in some of your hares (I liked writing that). Trade or $. Let me know.

Given that United wouldn't let me bring along nail clippers for my baby, I wouldn't count on this. If all else fails, FED EXP this stuff to yourself, or send it in the cargo hold of the airplane.

I've brought experimental materials on airplanes before all this happened, and they were extremely jittery about it. Half of the people thought I was carrying a kidney for a transplant or something.

Good luck!
