Great idea! I forgot to mention that. That would be a great way to help out and make MASNA a stronger organization as well.

Thank you for suggesting that.

Why not become a member instead of just donating?
With all due respect,if MASNA does go bankrupt, then you will loose all your money in a defunk organization. If you donate to the fund, and it still goes bankrupt, you get your money back. One could conclude that there is a big difference between the two.

I am not sure how factual this statement is.

As I pointed out on the other board, their intention to refund money if they go under, and their ability to do same under the rules of bankruptcy may well be two separate things. Me thinks a hobbyist will be at the end of a very long line to get their money refunded.....

Perhaps there is some confusion as to how the funds and bankruptcy will be handled. The people who have made these statements imply that the fund would be returned before declairing the bankruptcy in court.I don't know for sure if this is the case but it was certainly forwarded as such.Clearly, joining MASNA and having it go bankrupt, would cause a loss of your funding, which I believe was the original point.

Okay folks, I know you are very skeptical about donating your hard-earned money, especially in today’s economy. The following is my opinion on how people who want to help out can do so, without losing your money.

IF your secure CC donation is not processed and the treasurer merely holds onto your information until he can see how much has been raised, then you will lose nothing. What I think MASNA is doing is gathering "PLEDGES" from generous people who want to support MASNA. The pledges will be "realized" IF AND WHEN they reach their goal.

On the donations screen there is a comment window. You can clearly state in that section of the form "consider my donation a pledge and do not process it until the goal has been reached"

That will insure that you will lose nothing, BUT WILL HELP MASNA get an accounting of how much they can raise through your pledges.

If you are willing to support MASNA, they follow my .02 of advice and make a pledge and state on the secure donation for that this is a pledge to help with your accounting efforts. Process when goal is reached.

Happy Holidays

I have been in the Hobby for more than 2 years, what has MASNA done for me? Nothing, and I will donate on the same basis.

On that basis I should get rid of my car, health, and fire insurance. Just because you can't see what is being done doesn't mean that nothing is being done. Perhaps you have gotten advise from someone that attended a conference, or learned something because someone was preparing to be a presenter and did a lot of research and also told people on the net about it. Perhaps people that are members of MASNA contribute to this board, or but from the sponsors. There are many ways that you could be receiving something from them and be thoroughly unaware.

FYI, you may want to read the thread on RC dealing with this whole situation before you donate or join, that thread is very informative.
