Thoughts on the AquaC EV-200

My iwaki's impeller broke today and my I have an old PM skimmer which is a POS. It is some early counter current model with an iwaki MD-20RXT. So I think it is time just to get a whole new setup. Someone has an EV-200 with an iwaki MD-30RXT pump. I have a 75gal reef tank right now. Will this skimmer be too much for the tank? What are the thoughts on the EV-200? Anyways I am kind of scrambling for a new skimmer/pump right now.

My thought is: that's a heck of a lot of skimmer for a 75g. I think it's rated up to 300g isn't it. I use an EV-90 and even that would be fine for a 75g tank I believe. I also like the PM Bullet skimmers as well.

I've got a 75g with an EV-150 run off of a Mag7. Its plenty of skimmer for the tank, and I'd be happy with it up to a 150g tank probably.

I know the skimmer is oversized for the tank.
Will this be a problem is my question. I would rather have a PM bullet skimmer, but alas you don't see many forsale. And I don't have 600 bucks or so to buy a new skimmer.

I guess I don't understand your question then. There is no harm that I know of from using any skimmer rated for a larger tank than you have. With the possible exception of size relative to sump (if not plumbed externally) or pump relative to sump size if water throughput would cause too much turbulence and hence bubbles in the sump. The real issue is that most people don't want to pay for more skimmer than they need, albeit you want to think in terms of future upgrades.

I don't know where you got the $600 number from. Marine Depot has EV-90's on sale for $238. They are rated for tanks up to 125g. EV-150's are $318.
