I wanted to know how anyone likes their Turboflotor T1000 skimmer? I need a new skimmer now for my 40g tank but I am moving up to a 120g the end of April. For the price it seems right. But, how well does it work and does it need any mods for it to be better? What size pump does everyone use? I know it said to use 1700 but is that enough? I want to try to stay out of $250.00+ range if I can help it. I know this hobby can cost a lot but a big DIYer I am.

I was not happy with mine. I had it on a 55 gallon and had to clean the air line every few days for it to work well. It also requires an air pump because the venturi doesn't suck enough air. I would never buy another one.

I have a Turboflotor multi hangon includes the aquabee pump. This skimmer needed no mods to run great. I never have any problems at all and think is does excellent job for tanks in the 40-75 gallon range. For a 120 youll need a real high end skimmer.

i have one on my small 55g and it works great, to be honest not sure what pump it has on it, but certainly keeps my livestock thriving.
my 2 friends also have them one on a 180g (yes it does work well) and another friend has one on a 140g also working great. i see alot of americans saying bad things about the t1000, so maybe in uk we get different pumps with them

I've been satisfied with my hangon model...

BUT during the last month the venturi in the aqua bee pump have clogged two times. The first time I let the pump sit in FW for ~3 hours and it started to work again... last week when it clogged again, I put it in FW for ~30 hours and now it's been working fine again...

In the beginning the skimmer produced skimmate quite well. Now I've got to rise the waterlevel very high to get any skimmate... This way I get some, but it's very wet... Maybe the water is so clean

(Ive got very light bioload.)

_I have always felt that the skimmer is not producing enough airbubbles, ... I don't know._
