Right now I have a newly setup 55 gallon reef tank in my basement. I was thinking of putting a 55 gallon barrel in my garage, and running piping though the wall into my sump for water top off. Now I need to what would work better for this a Float switch or a float valve. And what company makes a reliable one. I am a little tight on money, but if it is under $70 it should be fine.
Thanks,
Les

Do you have any pics as to how this works. Does it automatically shut of the RO/DI unit as well as top off your sump. Also do you know if it would work on a AquaFX unit?

Check out the diagram at the Spectra Pure web site http://www.spectrapure.com They have several different models and I don't know why it would not work with any RO/DI unit. My RO is a Culligan and my DI is Spectra Pure. Call them if your interested they were very helpful for me. The sensor is a pipe about 3/4" x 4" with one end open and the other connected to a 1/4" air tube that goes to the controller it works via changes in air pressure when the water level goes up or down around the tube. It is very cool.

grab a business card for the compay you work for and go open an account. thats all it takes, something (anything) to prove the business actully exists and you can purchase there. i buy from them for car stuff (home of the $5 turbo boost controller) and i just opened an account for my engineering firm

My dad orders from there all the time for his business so I will probably just have him do it for me, I only asked because I have a friend that orders there all the time and he doesnt have a job so I assumed you could just order direct...he must be sneaky tho

peristaltic pump with grainger float/switch. you'll love it and if you decide to drip kalkwasser, you'll love it more.
I have a 32 gallon rubbermaid food safe can in the basement and it supplies water for three weeks or more.
set it and forget it.
