Has anyone ever had a problem using a rectangle 18Gal. size Rubber Made container for salt water mixing?

I'm only asking this for I am so accident prone and the darn thing is bulging out the sides with 15 gal. of water.

I can keep the lid on but it's making me nervous, has anyone had one split or anything?

I bought 2 18Gal (mine is the green ones) and intend to use them for aquaculturing. I have the same problem you are experiencing on the 15Gal ones.....bulging. The sides for these home use rubbermaid containers are so thin that I can only fill it up halfway to prevent the side from bulging.

I have heard from other aquarists that we should buy those black ones intended for farm use. Those are built with sturdy sides and are intended to hold liquid. But I cannot find any of these ones in my local Homedepot.

If anyone knows where to order them, please let me know as well.

TIA

I have been using an 18 gal Rubbermaid as a RO/DI resevior with no problems for about 5 months. Yes it does bulge on the sides but it has not split or shown any signs of doing so.

What's the key words to find farm co-ops in my area. Actually, I don't think there are any farm co-ops near where I live. I am no where near any farm lands in 50Miles radius.

cool thanks, I guess if it continues to bother me I can get another one and stack them together for extra support, I don't know why I didn't think of that in the beginning.
