What is the meanest trigger fish. I have heard that the Clown, Picaso, and Undulated are very agressive. According to FishSupply's web site they say it's the Queen trigger. My friend is putting to gether a trigger tank and wants the meanest fish alive. Even if it means only one fish in the tank. Your thoughts please.

I have had Clown, Niger, Pink-Tail, Picaso, and Undulated triggers. No question, the Undulatus, had a bad attitude several orders of magnitude above the others. Haven't kept a Queen trigger.

The Undulated is most often regarded as the most aggressive of the triggers. Both the Queen and the Undulated should be kept alone in aquariums of their own. The biggest consideration would seem to be tank size.
The Undulated max’s out at just under a foot long, and has a minimum tank size requirement of 55 gal. (according to Michael’s pocket guide). The Queen max’s out at about two feet, and the suggested minimum tank size for this monster is 200 gal.

Hands down, no question, absolutely...the Titan Trigger is the most aggressive.

Three feet max size, fantastic speed, and will kick the crap out of anything it enounters.

My favorite saltwater fish, and yet I'd never been able to find a 3" one for sale anywhere so I can set up a tank for it. My lfs distributor actually got in a 4.5" one several months ago, but it had a fungus on it's eye that it eventually died of. Rats.

Peace,

Chip

in my expeirence its the undulate, i had a 3" specimen in a tank along with 2 3 stripe damsels, well lets just say the damsels became fish food after about 2 weeks. the fish has a nasty temper, and some big teeth hehe.. but imo its a beautifull fish.

I stand corrected. It certainly would appear that a Titan guarding eggs is the most aggressive of the triggers.
Marillion, why are you restricted to looking for a 3” specimen?Certainly you have a tank big enough to house a 3’ adult, no?

hmm... I almost had a finger removed by a Balistes capriscus (Atlantic Grey Triggerfish) that was probably around 18"-24". It was pretty bloody... not having any experience with the Titan (Balistoides viridescens), I'll definitely lay my vote on the Grey.
