I recently aquired a couple of frags from Inland Aquatics. They look nice, and I used superglue to attach them to some small pieces of LR. Question 1: One piece had some of the tissue sloughing off upon arival. Some of the tissue now looks healthy. Will it overgrow over the damaged portions? Question 2: Will this species encrust onto the rock? Will it encrust over the superglue area? A couple of small pieces (less than 1") I simply wedged into rocks. Will these pieces attach to the LR?

BTW I have polyp expansion on all pieces.

Thanks in advance.

Ernie,

Yes!

No, really, the answer to all your questions is yes. The only qualifier I have is that *any* movement of the frag has been shown to effect its growth - so if those frags you wedged into the rocks wiggle at all, they may not do well but otherwise, let the encrusting begin.....

Some of the tissue now looks healthy. Will it overgrow over the damaged portions?

Yes, as long as the original tissue damage was of noninfectious or a healed trauma, and your system remains conducive to scleractinian skeletogenesis and health in general.

Will this species encrust onto the rock? Will it encrust over the superglue area?

Yes, and most often yes.

Will these pieces attach to the LR?

Yes, as long as they encounter no physical disturbance during encrusting skeletogenesis.

Hope this helps!

when you say "superglued" do you mean you literally used the "super glue" or are you using some sort of safe epoxy? sorry for bugging with beginner's questions.

I used gel type superglue.

Thanks for all the informative replies.
