I tossed the built-in filter and used a PC retro kit (27 watt daylight and 9 watt actinic with reflector) inside the canopy. You'll need to trim the plastic along the back of the hood, as well as the aluminum reflector (too much depth, the hood would be pushed up if you didn't). I use a powerhead with the live rock/sand for filtration. No fan, or heating related issues.
Not much help, but I've bought a couple of them from other hobbyists on line. I think most of the majors would sell them- try a search for Champion Lighting, Jeff's Exotic Fish, Premium Aquatics - I'm sure one (or more) will have it.
