I would really like to hear success storys from anyone who has successfully made Arragocrete rocks. I would like to add that one of my main factors for success is the cultivation of corraline algie on the rocks once cured.

If you have Arragocrete rocks with corraline algie could you please answer the following questions.

what aggrogate did you use with the portland cement:

1) Arragonite sand
2) Crushed Coral
3) Oyster Shell

or if it was a combination, what ratios did you use?

Secondly what curing time did you give the rocks?

Was the rock ever cured in Salt Water?

And did you have any circulation, airation etc etc?

Pictures would be fab, thanks all.

I have made several hundred of them for Xenia
frags. I used Ice trays for a mold they were easy to remove that way. also mixed it not so dry i used more water that what garf instructions called for. I let it set for 2 days and then soaked in viniger for 24 hours. beside the stag is a frag on one of them with coraline alge growth.

I set up an Aragocrete reef about two and a half years ago. Still going strong and thriving.

My reef was all aragocrete base- I used a varying combination of oolitic aragonite, oyster shells and some crushed coral. I cured everything in a creek in my back yard. Tank ran fine for almost 3 years, I would do it the same way again.
