I have an 80gal AGA with 20 gal sump. All the aquarium water is fed into an ETSS Protein skimmer before dumping into the sump. Th esump has three baffles, LS & LR. The right half of the sump has very little movement at all, but if I look closely, I see very fine bubbles. After investigating thoroughly for air leaks into the return hose, I ruled this out, by bypassing the skimmer and just returning the water to the main tank. There were no bubbles. So the problem remains in the ETSS skimmer, where I can clearly see it dumping tons of fine bubbles into the dump. Recommended flow output through the skimmer is 320gph. Mine is measured at 327gph, but bubbles still remain. The system is two weeks old. Any ideas?
Cheers,
Scott

1. Early break in periods for skimemrs retain bubbles.
2. Throw a sponge or floss material in between one of the baffles.
3. what is the water movement between your tank/sump? That could also cause a problem by pushig too much water past the etss and sump and not allowing the bubbles to disperse.

Im not sure how the ETS water exit is but on my PM bullet I run an 1800 gph pump and use a sponge to cover the water exit pipe. That helps lower the bubble amount immensly in my situation. Good luck.

Well, I fixed it. It seems my Little Giant 5md (1100gph) return pump was too strong or was entraining air. I switched it over to a smaller 3MD pump and all the bubbles are gone. Hurray!
Cheers,
Scott
