I have a cleaner shrimp in with a maroon that is so big and nasty it bites me until my flesh bleeds. It does not harm the cleaner shrimp, or go near it. I would be amazed if the percula killed it. Maybe it was already dead or dieing?

sadly, I watched the clown go after the shrimp numerous times. Tried to keep him away but to no avail. i am almost sure the clown was the end for the shrimp. When I turned the lights off, the shrimp was all over prior to the incident.

If you watch your cleaner shrimp's behavour, you may find it is a little annoying sometimes. The attacks may be retaliation for unwanted cleaning attempts or territory invasions. Or you just have yourself a murderous clown.

Hello all,

I posted a topic earlier today about something killing off my cleaner shrimp. I sat on and off for hours today watching the tank. I was shocked to find that my larger of two perc. clowns nipped at my last cleaner shrimp until it was dead. To make sure the clown was guilty, I moved the dead shrimp into the open behind some rocks, all the fish went by, but the clown attemped to eat the shrimp.

Has anyone had a problem with a "killer" clown and any ideas on why it went after my shrimp. A total of three in the last 4 - 6 weeks. I really like having the shrimp in the tank, but I also would hate to get ride of the clown. Any thoughts?

Thanks
