This stuff is sprouting everywhere!! It looks like small brocolli plants. Is this from the small amounts of macro that I have put in this tank. It is taken over the tank. What can I do to stop it???

Small, round and green algae sounds like Valonia sp.. I'm a little confused by the broccoli analogy.

Are there stalks?
Are you saying you have tiny bonsai trees in your tank?

If anything macros will help keep pest algaes at bay.

A red sea sailfin will eat that type of algae as will most rabbitfish(foxface, etc)Get something on it fast ,because it will really sread left untreated.
good luck

This sounds like Valonia spp. or bubble Caulerpa spp. The problem here lies with your phosphate levels and/or lack of proper herbivore activity. The tang idea is a good one, but if you are not maintaining a Red Sea tank then a Zebrasoma xanthurus may not do well or fit in with your other inhabitants. You can try Zebrasoma scopas, flavescens, or desjardini as well. Fish are great, but I personally recommend borrowing an Urchin from someone. Do you know anyone who has one? Also there are certain types of crabs and snails that will graze small clusters of Valonia or Caulerpa. I recommend you read The Reef Aquarium Vol. 1 by Delbeek and Sprung. There is a whole chapter on the ID and removal of nuisance algae from your tank.

Good Luck!
