I have been fighting a bad algae out break for about 2 months now. I finally narrowed the outbreak to a drop in alkalinity and increased organics in the tank. I had/have both green hair algae and red slime. Well i got my new skimmer for X-mas(Red Sea), and cleaned as much out as i could, then added ChemClean to the tank. Its been 3 days and I am hoping for the best, so far so good.
I have a few questions though. What is and ideal temp and Gravity to minimize micro algae growth? I dont know if I have ever come across and books that give advice on these 2 parameters in relation to algae outbreaks.

My current is 78 degrees at 1.024.

Thanks alot!

I noticed i had more algea when my temps went above 29/30 c. I got an urchin (T. Gratilla)he really fixed the hair algea. Also be sure skimmer is working to max or get a bigger one, my skimmer was faulty but by the time i found out i had a huge hair prob which lasted for weeks.

It's not your salinity, though it could be higher, mine is a 1.25, my suggestion is use a RO/DI unit for you water changes and top offs, should clear up your problem in a short while, plus make sure your PS is working properly, cya and gl.
