What exactly is a "drop-in" refugium? If all you need is a somewhat potected space to harbor organisms, it seems like one of those plastic kritter keepers would work. Couldn't you just fill it with sand and put it in the corner?

I had a critter cage in my tank for a while but found it a little difficult to hide. So I got the CPR HOB 18" refuge. I like it and would recommend it to anyone.

Yes the critter cages work, but are not visibly pleasing. I removed the top and drilled six holes in each side of the 4x8x5 clear plastic box. It was then placed under my filter return for circulation.

CPR also makes an in tank refuge that comes with a pump. $30 at most MO places.
