Right now I have a Maxxima HIs RO/DI unit that runs from my basement to my living room. I have a bucket next to my fish tank with the Kent marine float valve RO/DI shut off kit. I then have a spectra pure liter meter that tops off my sump from this bucket. I want to use Kalk in the bucket but am afraid that the Float Valve with get clogged with Kalk residue and stick. What should I do? Is it safe to have kalk with the float valve?

TIA

I'm using the Kent float valve with Kalk top off water. It does get an accumulation of carbonate crusts on it over time, but checking that it just one of the regular tasks I do on a daily basis. It comes off easily.

I have similar ro/di and liter meter. Difference is, I have a bucket downstairs for the water and my liter meter sucks from it and runs the water through a diy kalk reactor. I have the liter meter on a timer and set so it replaces all of evap water over a 4-5 hour period. Totally hassle free, I add a 1/2 pound of kalk every couple of months.

Yeah, I'm a little confused here. Why are you using a float valve with the liter meter? Its better to use a float switch.

Im lazy and dont want to carry water from my basement. So I have the RO/DI line with the shut off kit going to a bucket next to my tank. This is where the float valve is. This way that bucket is always full. I then use a spectrapure liter meter to pull the water from the bucket and top off the tank.

This way I can mix kalk in the bucket of water and the liter meter doses the kalk water for me.

Ben,
How about setting up a kalk reactor. I asked George to build me one (around 100.00) Then you can fill up a large drum (say 55 gal) with your RO\DI unit in the basemesnt and pump the water up from there with the Liter meter through the Kalk reactor.
