Hi Glenn,
We went to the first MO in Hawaii, in fact Roy was a speaker. He talked about the work we have done with aquacultured live rock. The conference is intended to bring together folks from the marine aquarium "business", the aquaculture industry, and acedemics, to help guide and expand aquaculture of "marine ornamentals" i.e. marine aquarium animals, be it fish, inverts, corals etc. The first MO had mixed reviews, there seemed to be not many hobbyists there, more "producers", research and academic folks, and a number of authors and speakers. The format is different than, say MACNA type conferences. There are several sessions going on at the same time - each one lasting about 20 minutes so you have to pick which ones you want to listen to. They did put together a booklet with abstracts from all the speakers, which was nice.
It would probably be worthwhile for a student to attend, although I don't know what they require for student regis. I looked at the brochure, but it does not spell out at all. Have you checked on the web page?
Also, it's in Florida this year, which is great for me
about 45 minutes from home!
Hope this info helps some
Teresa
