Skimmer and De'clor

I unfortunatly need to do a fast water cange and decided to put declor into my water, prior to adding the water to the fish tank.

Obviously the skimmer doesnt do well with that, how long should i expect to have the de'clor break down, and not give me the problem over excessive foam? thanks

I take it you are using tap water? Most dechlorinators will cause the skimmer to go crazy for a while. Those that contain slime coat enhancers will likely cause more over-bubbling than others such as AmQuel.

I would recommend getting a RO/DI or at least a DI unit to process your tap water and keep enough water on hand for future water changes.

Tap water conditioner by Aquarium Pharm doesn't cause the skimmer to do it.
