I have my new 58 show Natures View up and running, looks good but one problem. The Oceanic cap doesn't have near enough ventilation and the tank is going nuclear. Inside temp made it up to the high 70's yesterday and the tank hit 90! It's not done cycling yet, and I won't put any livestock in until I can nail down this temp issue. Here is the tank.

4x 95watt VHO
2x Maxijet 1200
2x 100 Watt Won Proheat
Precision Marine Hot1 Skimmer
80# Aragonite sand
About 50# of live rock. (very light, probably not get any more)

My short term plan is to put a clip on fan at each end of the cap on the back, blowing in. I also have the front of the cap propped up to alow for air flow through. That has seemed to help a lot. Eventualy, I feel I will have to buy or build a better cap, but does anyone have any other short term suggestions?

Edit: With the extra ventilation from propping up the cap, it's running around 82 as I type this.

Cut holes in either end of the canopy and install 1 or 2 3" fans.

I wish I could, the canopy just isn't tall enough. A major reason I'm thinking of a new canopy is to put fans on the ends, and get the lights a little higher. As is, the lights are only about 2" above the water unless I prop up the canopy.

The canopy looks to be about 7-8" tall judging from the picture--about the same as mine. I have a 3" 120VAC RadioShack fan (about 3 1/2" square) and it's got plenty of room--take some measurements before you decide you need a new hood.

i have the same stand and canopy with a 65 all glass aqaurium using the oceanic furniture....i put a fan blowing on my sump and one on each side of the canopy blowing outward....temp stable at 78 degrees with no chiller....heater doesnt work much either....do that first as i dont think you will need to cut the sides of the canopy...

p.s. my biggest problem with this canopy is that it only opens from the top an is hard to reach down low in the tank as a result of the total height....but it looks great!!!...i have to stand on a chair. Would be better if it flipped from th front...soon....when i am not to lazt, i will brace the front and hinge it...

Yeah, same here. I can't open mine at all due to the HOB skimmer. If I ever get the sump plans going I'm working on, it'll help. Oh well, I'll play around with things a bit. No hurry, since the cycle isn't done yet.
