Last night before I went to bed I noticed both my ocelaris clownfishes in the overflow of my AGA 180 along with one of my yellow damsels. I quickly fished them out (no easy task) and returned them to the tank. I suppose that they went in through the extra opening for a return line (On AGA tanks there are openings for 2 return locations you simply break off a small plastic piece for the location you want. I mistakenly broke off both.) And I went to bed. This morning I woke up and one of the ocelaris was missing. I looked through all the rockwork to no avail. A couple of hours later I found him, or rather half of him on the sand being consumed by the nassarius snails. I assumed that he died because he is new, or for some other reason. Then I noticed the other half of him stuck in the flat opening of one of my returns. This means that he went through the small hole in the overflow again, up through the stockman standpipe, down to the sump, through several baffles, up through a small elbow pointed downward and through the mag 4 return pump!

I had no idea that he could fit through the overflow until last night. I feel terrible!

I have since blocked the small hole in the overflow, and may add as sponge to the intake of the mag4.

Anyone know of a good source for tank raised ocelaris? (False Percula)

I got mine from Premium Aquatics and was incredibly pleased. They are beautiful, healthy and adjusted rapidly to their new environment. Also resonably priced.

I am so sorry about your loss, but if you want another pair I would definately recommend Premium Aquatics.

Something similar happened to me awhile back. I had a fish only 90 gallon. I woke up and heard my little giant loudly humming, I also noticed my green moray missing. Well with out thinking I rushed down and turned the ball valve right before the pump so I could shut off the pump. When I turned the ball valve I cut the eel in half

. That eel went over my over flow through the drip tray, and bio balls. Over the sump baffles and into my return line where he got stuck up against the pump.

I dont know if you are interested in gold stripe maroon clowns but greg hiller has these for sale at great prices, nearly old enough to start mating.

I got these from PA also. The one that is left is quite healthy, and beautiful. I may get another one from them. The two were practically inseperable- I am glad that this once they split up.

Sorry to hear about your loss.. What an awfull way to die...
icon_sad.gif

At least this little fish might have saved the lifes of many others... consider him a little hero

Good thing you saw him last night and figured out how he died... Or this could have had happened over and over before you would have found out.. maybe even think you had a mean hitchiker in your tank...
Good luck finding a new mate to your other little one.
