Hi all - I am converting this swimming pool:
into a lagoon refugium. The far right side will be planted with mangroves, and believe it or not, it is already set up to be plumbed! There is a sprinkler head at the top of the "slide" which I am taking off, the connection there is a plastic garden hose connection which I will connect to my overflow which I am getting (opinions ? does anyone think I should go with anyone but Lifereef?). The water will cascade down the slide, swirl through the pool, Im figuring this is the only water movement (no powerheads!) I will need provided I get enough flow out of my overflow. There is a center drain, I am going to fabricate a cylindrical overflow and plumb the drain back to the tank (again, pump reccomendations? - What wont chop all the little creatures being fed back to the tank?) Im very excited about this as It is my first major DIY project, and please, any input or ideas you may have let me know - My plan is to have some clams, my lawnmower blennie (moves to much sand in the display now), mysis shrimp, peppermint or cleaner shrimp (hopefully as breeders) and other lagoonal creatures as residents. It will be lit by a 250wt bell pendant about 3' overhead. Ill post pictures as it progresses. Let me know what you think!
Thanks,
Brian
