I just purchased the WON Titanium heater from Premium Aquatics and so far so good. I've only had it now for about a week or so but it keeps very accurate temp. I also like the contoler being at the plug. Below is a link to it.....
Great heater. I have had the 300 watt model on my 90 for about 6 months. Temp does not fluctuate but the heater seems to be on all the time. I only hope it can keep up this winter. They say that for a 40-150 Gallon Tank - 200 watts is enough. -- Rob
The wattage depends on the size of the tank and the max differential in tank/air temp you expect to experience. On my 180 I have 1 300W titanium and 1 200W titanium but I wouldn't let the room temp drop more than 55F (17C)
I just got 2 of them last week, so I can't answer to reliability, but they work very well so far. The directions say they should be mounted horizontal, I have one mounted horizontal and one verticle and have noticed no difference. I got mine here www.oceanencounter.com
Have had mine for several months and so far so good. This topic was debated on this board a few months ago. I think a number of people had bad experiences with this product.
its a great heater but the controller is dangerous, can be bumped very easily. i corrected the problem by duct taping the thermostat so it doesnt move.
I agree with the above posts. I have two 300W models on my 125 (140gal sump/refugium in the basement). They work great. The dials do move very easily as I learned the hard way recently, but the tape idea would solve that. I added a temp controller which also runs my fans and now my temp stays very stable at 81-82 degrees. Personally I love the Won titanium heaters. If this was a TV comercial I would smile at the camera right now and say "Won pro titaniums heaters... I use them. You should too!"
Sorry E, you are correct the directions state that they should be mounted verticle, I have one verticle and one horizontal in different tanks! Thanks for catching that!!!
