Hey,

Just wondering what the best way to do this would be (simplist)..I am thinking of hooking it up to the 80, this way the water will be more stable, and it will add more water volume to the entire system. Btw its the 7gal aga bowfront one. Thanks.

How far apart will the systems be?

Is there a sump on the 80?

If there is a sump, What I would do is drill the 7g and plumb it into the 80's sump, gravity fed. Using either a manifold off of your 80's primary return pump, or an additional pump, run a return to the 7.

If you don't have a sump, you could do something similar but you would have to gravity feed to the 80 and add an extra submersible pump to the 80 to return the water to the 7.

When i get the sump hooked up on the 80, the distance between the sump and the 7gal will be about 3-5feet, I didn't think you could get those 7gal drilled, cause of the class being thinner the normal tanks..

I just did the same thing myself, only it was an eclipse 3g (acrylic), therefore I was able to drill it and glue bulkheads in. In your case you're probably going to have to build (or buy) an overflow box. I bought a maxi-jet 900 to pump water up from the sump as I thought it would be pumping up 40 inches or so. When I set it all up the height difference (between water level of 3g and water level of sump) was only 20 inches, so the 900 was overkill (my overflow couldn't keep up). I swapped my roomate for a mj 600 and even that was overkill so I've got it valved; its choked back to a little more than a trickle. I might do some work on the overflow so that I can get more flow, but its not really that important.
