Hello Everyone,

I have a 15g reef tank. I have the prizm skimmer running for 5 months now. But, I dont think the skimmer works at all. first it does not skim anything. All the gunk are stuck on the neck rather than spill over to the collection cup. 2nd, it is rather noisy. 3rd, it return alot of bubble back into the tank (It is a 18 blade model). I am wondering if anyone have any experience of solve the problem or it is just a worthless skimmer that I should buy another one..

I have a Prizm on my 55 gallon and it works fine. If you are getting buildup on the neck then adjust your water flow so that the bubbles will go a little higher and spill over into the holder. Adjust it a little at a time and give it a few minutes before you move it again. You will see a big difference.

As far as making alot of bubble, take a look at how far the water is from the bottom of the return. Adjust this if possible or just make sure you tanks water level is always to the top.

Noisy??? Make sure you have the tube connected to the right place. It should be connected to the air pipe on the right. The left connection is just to get the air out of the suction.

I have a prizm on my 55 also, it is a fantastic skimmer. I totally agree with the last poster. It sounds like you have the air line on the priming plug on the left, move it to the right after you start up. If you follow the directions(which can be confusing), it should work. If not, return it and get a new one.
