Has anyone ever tryed tanning bed lights? I work for a place that use to sells tanning beds and can get the lights really cheap. They are VHO 160 watt, the problem is I don't know the temp rating of the bulbs. The Relative Spectral Radiant Flux peaks at around 350 nm i think it would be too purple. What do you think?

Isn't anything under 400nm generically known as UV?

I suspect you'll fry your corals and fish, and perhaps yourself

I don't think that the UV would be good for the corals. Although, aren't most of the colors UV protection. Would be interesting to know if you stepped up the UV if the coral would step up its color...hmmm

I'm not gonna try it, you try it, let Mikey try it...He'll try anything.

Good luck!

They are uv lights cause they are out of a tanning beds. But don't mh give off uv aswell? The sun gives off uv aswell or it just that they give mainly uv light that would cause the problem? Just thought i would ask if i could use them and save some cash.
