My new jawfish has pop eye. I got him on Thursday and he been eating and happy until today. This morning he was in his hole all day and popped up from his hole tonight and would not eat. Every this is right in line except for the PH 8.4. Would someone please let me know what I should do to make him better. Thanks in advance.

i dealt with popeye on a clownfish b-4. first thing i did was catch him. i had 2 tear up the reef tank to do it. the i used a product called eye fungex. its some eye drops that come with a part 1 & 2 . i added a drop of both in each eye and he was fine in about 1 week. there are other products that you can add directly to the tank , but will kill inverts.

Please do not put that eye fungus stuff on the poor thing. I have seen fish blinded from that stuff. Since you just got the fish the popeye is probably caused by an injury while netting (I don't use nets). If the eye looks clear just change the water and wait a few days. The eye often heals on its own with a large water change. If the eye is cloudy or does not get better then treat in quarantine with Maracyn-Two.

What I did when my Tomato clowns had the case of the Pop-eyes was catched and places them in a hosptil tank and treated with Maracyn for a week straight. They eventually got better and is now enjoying the phat life... lol

Oh yeah I also cranked the heat up to 85 degrees too...

hope that helps.

good luck
