I'd like to hear from anyone running this combination - specifically 2 Aquasun & 2 Actinics or 3 Aquasun & 1 Actinic. What problems are you having, what are you growing and how long do you go before replacing them?

I ran 2 aquasuns and 2 actinics on my 75G for a year. I kept SPS, LSP, softies and clams without any problem. I upgraded to MH shortly after one year. On a 55G you should be able to keep just amount anything. My Crocea clams were perfectly happy sitting in the sand.

I run that combo on a 100 gallon. I use 2 URI Actinics and 2 $4.95 GE Daylight Ultras. I have changed the Daylight Ultras after 6 mos and have had no problems. I have SPS, LPS, and a clam. However, aside from the LPS and a porite that came with my live rock, everything has been captive bred. I introduced two wild caught SPS heads and they are struggling.

I use this combination of lights on my 55g, run by an icecap 660. I have mostly softies in this tank but also have a few sps and lps. I have 4 clams on the sandbed (2 deresas and 2 squamosas). Everything is growing very fast. Click the link under my signature for pics of this tank and my others.

I run an icecap 660 with 2 50/50s and 2 actinics. Currently I am using 4x95 watts. When I change the bulbs in October I will upgrade to 4x110 watts(46.5" bulbs).

If you click on the link below you can see photos. The first few were taken with a flash and the rest are the true color of the tank.
