my fish have f names (fred, Flo, Fynn), my anemone is andy, sam the sea urchin, etc. I just got some fish (clown, h.crabs and a dottyback) that will keep their names (clownie and dotty, etc). I have a lot of children come over to my apt and I have a book that gives info of all my fish with name, sci. name, and a short blurb & am making another book for school now that it is a gulf tank. It gives my dates something to do if I decide to change clothes for the 20th time

My wife gives all the fish nicknames then they just sort of stick. My personal favorite is Demonic our Hawaiian Dragon Eel. My wife didn’t know I was getting it. When she got home she noticed the Quarantine tank had the cover over it. She hurried up and called me at work seeing if it was ok to take the cover off to look at the new fish… well.. see did. And after all the screaming was done the only thing she said was that thing is Demonic looking… and the name just stuck..

I have a Bi-color Blenny named "Bob", a Maroon Clown named "Moron" (it used to be "Spike" but "Moron" seemed more appropriate) a yellow tang named "Sunshine" (kids named that one!) A C. argi named "Angel" an O. clown named "Bubbles" and a Green Clown Goby named "Gumby". One of my favorite fish was a Pearly Jawfish that unfortunately met his demise; his name was "Peek".

Galleon; did Pennywise's eyes glow in the darK?

That book still creeps me out!

And I have to say "Mr. Caca" is pretty apt, lol.

My Yellow tang is called Wu. Wu-Tang
And my yellow banded maroon was called Krusty.

He went back to the shop because he was trying to dig his way to Austrailia. I thought it was hilarious, but the open brain coral failed to see the funny side. The brain is perfectly fine though, just a little sandy at the time.

Naming Fish?! Who ever heard of such a thing? Now if I were to tell Mr. Magoo (that's my snowflake eel) that he had a name, why I'd bet he'd curl up in his cave and not eat for a week! Cute post! Lots of replies. So much for the technical aspects of the hobby! Ha! JWT

I'm sure more names will be forthcoming, but these are the only ones that have earned a name just yet...

I have been in this hobby since 1981. I've had more tanks and fish than I can remember. I've owned an LFS since 1997.

I have never named a fish.

I only name some of my fish. My two percs are "Mr. and Mrs. Crankypants" because they always look so cranky in the "morning" when the lights come on and they toss and turn in their "bed" (the anemone)... they kinda remind me of myself in the morning. I know its kinda convoluded but I guess I have no life or something. In my freshwater tank I have two polypterus', one is named "fluffy" and the other "spot".
