I come up some colorful names whenever my fishes jump out of the tank. Does that count?

In the many years I have been in the hobby I have only named one fish. It is an Ocellaris clown.

He got sucked into an overflow and stayed there for a week in the dark with no food. I knew he had disappeared, but it never occurred to me he could have gotten into the overflow box. The tank was subsequently shutdown and the overflow was left for 3 days with no water circulation and no heat in winter. When I finally got around to dumping the overflow out in the sink, out comes this Clown fish into the sink and down the disposal. I fished him out, and promptly dropped him on the carpet as I headed for the tank in my haste.

That was 3 years ago. His name is Lucky.

Welcome to the board.

Why not "Woods", like Tiger "Woods" Cowry snail?

I never said I was good at it, I just enjoy doing it

I only name them when they seem to have a personality. In my FO tank my trigger is named Hanibal. When I first put him in he took a bite ouf of a 1.5 inch blue damsel. So I figured he was a mean sob. But turned out I guess he just wanted to let everyone know who is boss. Hes been perfect gentleman to his tankmates ever since.

Ok no better time than a fun thread to post for the first time. Our family has named just about everything in our tank.
Blue Ribbon Eel = Groovy
Ghost Eel = Casper
Bumble Bee Snail (snuck in on a piece of LR)= Bumbles
Yellow Tank = Tango
Cinnamon Clown = Jester
Blue Hippo Tang = Baloo
Mandarin = Kermit (aka Kermie)
M/F Pair Naso Tangs = Mr Salt & Mrs Pepper
Spotted Puffer = Puffy
Chocolate Chip Starfish = Chip
The only "thing" that doesn't have a name is our huge Tiger Cowry snail...anyone have any ideas?

Not only does my fiance name our fish, she has named almost all of the original corals I bought! She stopped naming them when I started concentrating on smaller frags. It is difficult to name a single polyp I guess. Here are a few of our names:

hammer coral: malleus
leather coral: coach
frogspawn: wonka
sarcophyton: fauna
brass colored zoanthids: lincoln
feather duster: limpio (or Piso Mojado)

Our fish are named:
ocellaris clownfish: krusty
royal gramma: Roy G Biv

Well, my girlfriend named my female Ocellaris clown Starletta, and has yet to figure out a name for the male. And my parents are thinking of a name for my scopas tank.

I named my gargatuan over sized hermit crab (Dardanus Megistos) "Boomer" since he is crimson colored with creme colored dots. Plus he knocks everything about just like the Sooners defense. I think he is still mighty feared down in Florida.......

As far as fish i've named my Fu Manchu lionfish Tick Tock

There is an oriental person I know from work - his family owns a Chinese restaurant I used to have to inspect - their family name is Tang, and, I swear, his first name is Poon.
