I have had it for the past 2 weeks and it is very closed up and it looks like it is receding. It had taken a piece of shrimp about a week after I had it. I have moved it a couple of times to get so it would be out of the high flow. I have raised my dkh because it was a little low but everything else seems fine. I ran carbon but that has not helped. The coral is now sitting in the substrate. I plan on having someone else test my water just in case. Should I move it to my 10gal quarintine for the time being? I also have a open brain which seems to be doing fine but I am afraid for that too. These are my first corals. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Broker,
You got to tell us alittle more about your tank, lighting, water parm. etc. My bubble seems to like moderate light and flow and I feed it a couple of times a week at night. I wouldn't move it into another tank just yet because you might stress it more. Also what type of OB do you have. I have a GOB that prefers high light and is high on the rocks sitting in a little pile of sand and I have a ROB that likes lower light and is in the sandbed. Both seem to inflate more with a good current on them.

I have a 1 year old 50gal with 400w MH, 4inch sb . Water paramters are check, cal approx. 460ppm , Alk 8dkh, salinity 1.026, no other measurable readings. The OB is a GOB but I am am more worried about the Bubble.

I would give it indirect light from the MH and moderate current. Have you looked at it at night to see if the feeder tentacles come out. If they do try feeding it.

Hope this helps

Something is wrong. I just lost my cleaner shrimp. The bubble ate the piece of shrimp. I just tested my water again, they all read normal. I do not know what is going on

Well everything seems back to normal. I gave the bubble a piece of shrimp and this morning it has it polyps extended. I also did like Mike NY said and moved it out of direct light and a little less water flow. The GOB still looking good. Have no clue about my shrimp.

Thanks Mike.

Hey Mike if you are still out there can you tell me anything about shrimp molting? How they behave, movement, etc.. I think I may have taken an innocent life in my frantic state to help my coral

I currently have a large Coralband because it's the only shrimp I found to be tough enough to last with my Pseudochromis Dutoiti

but I have had Camel, Peppermint, Scarlet shrimps in the past and they all molted for me at night. My Coralband hides during the day(except when food is present) and is prowling the tank at night. During a molt they ussally find a place in the back of the rocks where they probably feel safe and confortable because during and after a molt they are at their most vulnerable stage.

Bubbles are low light corals (in most cases). This means in the shadow of your 400w MH. None of them like current. I think many would disagree with me but bubbles IME are a hard coral to keep.

I think bubble corals are very temperamental. If you don't give them what they want, they will not do well and will eventually die. Many other corals will simply "adapt". IME, they don't like a lot of light, but they don't like dim lighting either. They also seem to really be sensitive to current. Too strong and they will never open up fully.

Just an update to the condition of my BC. I moved it to my 10gal and it is doing considerably better. I can say that it prefers the the lower current. The currents from my sea swirl in my 50gal must have been to much for it. Thanks for the help once again.
